Our Birthday Boy...

Eight years ago Joshua Ammon Lee entered the world...it's hard to believe how the years have flown. We love our wonderful son, our awesome big brother and all-around totally terrific kid!!

Joshua likes to leave a note for Santa each year, along with his cookies & egg nog...this year he decided that the Easter Bunny needed a note & snack as well.

Grace watched her brothers intently while they dyed the eggs (or dissected them as Nathaniel thought it was called for some reason). After trying to get things going with one hand, I finally convinced her to sit in the high chair and watch and she was satisfied. Next year she'll want to be right there helping, I'm sure!

Joshua was rather methodical about doing his eggs & made sure to leave them in long enough to get a nice deep color...his only regret at the end (besides there being no more eggs) was that he never got to do a yellow one! (nathaniel hogged the yellow)

Nathaniel did over half of the eggs in record time...dump them in, fish them out, they're a different color - cool! Next egg, please!

Day 2 of Spring Break

Joshua is enjoying Spring Break. We told him awhile back when he told us he was going to reach 100 points in the Accelerated Reading program at school (online quizzes they take on books that vary in points from .5 to 40 per book)that when he reached that goal, we'd let him read the first Harry Potter book (which he's been dying to do for ages). He reached he goal in early March, but we told him that he could wait until Spring Break for Harry. So he started it Sunday night. As you can see he is enjoying it. The boy is a bookworm, there's no doubt about it! He told us last week that he'd broken a School Record...no 2nd grader has ever reached 100 points in the Accelerated Reader program, the highest one had ever gotten had been in the 80s. Then he brings home his report card...he needs a little work on subtraction facts, but he reads 200 words per minute (!) with good comprehension. Yeah, I think he can handle Harry.

I truly debated (for about fifteen seconds) on just leaving Nathaniel where he'd gotten himself stuck...my day (if he'd been quiet) might have been a lot calmer. Somehow he got himself in this postion...and then couldn't get out. He tells me, "Mom, I'm stuck. My head's too big and my bum's too big!" Well, the head wouldn't squish, but the bum did and he got free in time for lunch.

Grace slept all night, took a good nap in the morning and then a little cat nap after her pre-lunch milk. Six and a half months and she's still all cheeks!

St. Patrick's Day meant wear green! And the boys have these very cute matching shirts that they got from Great Grandma Donna and Great Grandpa Ken for Christmas. Grace is wearing an outfit that her Aunts Sarah and Carrie wore. And the boys had to do goofy faces!

Daddy's Spring Break was earlier than Joshua's. One day we took the little ones for a walk. Nathaniel was so excited to push the stroller for a little while. We walked around the neighborhood and then down to the park where they had fun on the swings and slides.

Grace in her new high chair...3-12- & 3-13. We have a high chair that we used with both of the boys. It worked fine. But it didn't fold up. This one folds up. Not as compact as we might want, but it's better than the old one! Grace was very pleased to try it out. And then the next morning, she sat in it while we ate breakfast and got to try her first pancake...she thought that was pretty cool!
