For one of the summer reading program activities this past month, they had a Muggle Magic program. The head "mad scientist" happened to be our Bishop (& Brian's doctor)...his wife does the weekly Storytime hour. Joshua had been looking forward to this afternoon for a couple of weeks. (He loves magic tricks and he loves Harry Potter) so was pretty excited when the time came. I was surprised that he never raised his hand to be a volunteer scientist during the "show" - but I think he was too excited to be sitting by his friend Spencer. (Spencer is the grandson of the Olivers (bishop & storyteller) and was visiting for a couple of weeks). Anyway, after all the magic tricks/experiments were finished, the kids got a chance to put on the lab coat and goggles if they wanted to. Well, Joshua was all over that. As you can see the goggles were a little large and he had to hold them up with his hands...and I'm not sure how many times the sleeves of the coat were rolled up.

Joshua did an experiment here where you put grapes in glasses of water & sugar, or just plain water to see how they float. It was pretty cool (you can see Spencer in the background). We love the summer reading program and it's fun activities. And we love storytime. Nathaniel is just starting to get interested in it and Joshua is excited that he is in afternoon kindergarten so he gets to go to it for another year.
